I had a dream, and it was incredible.
I awoke within a sprawling city
Looking down upon skyscrapers and people
My wings itching to soar into the skies.
I had a dream, and it was exciting.
Clouds zoomed by as I took off
Diving low past children and trees
Watching everyone envy my freedom.
I had a dream, and it was calming.
Birds joined me in my flight
A faint breeze brushed over my face
as I landed once more to enjoy the sights.
I had a dream, and it was frightening.
I felt searing pain press against my back
I looked back to see a figure holding feathers
Blood red contrasting with their jet black.
I had a dream, and it was terrifying.
The figure cackled as I became dizzy.
I lost my footing and fell from the building.
Falling quickly to the concrete below.
I had a dream, and it was ending.
My body was broken on the ground below.
Feathers fell from above, raining down upon me.
The last thing I saw was those people laughing.
I had a dream, and it was saddening.
I awoke, still seeing my lost feathers.
My hands felt over my back, feeling nothing odd.
And I realized it could only ever be a dream.
I had a dream, and it was never real.
